This Global Learning Unit consists of a unit study that portrays more of how students learn about a particular topic. The focus on this Global Learning Unit is Educational Inequality, however, the topic was narrowed down to global economics and its impact on education to fit well with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, as well as the students grade level. The unit is most suited for a 7th Grade Social Studies class.
The Global Learning Unit primarily focuses on the Project-Based Inquiry Model, as shown below:
The Unit Design consists of the following:
1) Preface - A description of the overall design and goals of the unit.
2) Objectives - Includes related content and skills
3) A general plan for PBI - A description of plan for having the students students engage inall the phases in the Project-Based Inquiry. There is a description of how much time students will spend on each phase and the general activities that students will complete.
4) Specific description of learning activities - Mostly the lesson plans that include a description in some detail each of the phases in the PBI process and what students will do to complete each phase. Include a description of the materials and resources students will need to compete each phase.
5) Assessment plan - Description of how students have met the learning goals for the specified unit.
