Description of the Overall Design:

The unit is designed for 7th Grade Social Studies students, following the North Carolina Standard Course of Study. Students will examine the social, political, and economic structure and analyze the similarities and differences among various parts of communities. In this grade level, students are provided with the context for studying about global issues and ways in which they will be able to relate to them. Also, they will understand how others depend on them, and initially make informed and educated judgments as responsible and competent citizens of the world- hence, having them become cosmopolitan thinkers among their community.

Particularly in middle school, students expand their knowledge and understanding about the world around them. There is an attentive, strong, and thoughtful effort prepared by educators to ensure that students gain more knowledge about various societies from every continent
